I’d been curious about pilates for a number of years, dabbling in a group mat class here and there - but it wasn’t until experiencing a classical pilates class that I really began to understand what pilates was all about and why it was so valuable - and I was hooked!

I loved the classical pilates teaching because it honoured Joseph Pilates’ method and didn’t dilute it from why it became so popular to begin with - he wanted people to truly be in control of their bodies.

Having changed from an active job in youth work to a 9-5 desk job, I quickly realised the impact movement and a lack of it has on your overall well-being and it was pilates that helped me not only get back the health I’d had before but to actually improve it.

I researched pilates courses thoroughly and through some wonderful classically trained teachers I discovered The Pilates Center - a classical pilates studio situated in Boulder founded by second generation teachers Amy and Rachel Taylor Alpers.

After practicing pilates and taking regular classes for 2 years, I went on to study the prestiguous Advanced teacher training program through the Pilates Center for a further 18 months. I continued working in London teaching Pilates but eventually moved to Suffolk and began building my own studio.
